The short version

We never store your child's photo. It is used only to create and quality-check the illustrations, then permanently deleted — before your book is ever printed or shipped. It is never saved on our servers.
We collect only what we need to make your book.
We use no advertising, no analytics trackers, and no third-party cookies.
Book data is kept only long enough for quality review — it is deleted the moment your book is sent to print, or automatically after 90 days at the latest.
You can request deletion of your data at any time.

What we collect

When you create a book, we process and store:

The first name you enter, your written description, and any must-haves you list.
A short illustrator-style visual description derived from the photo (hair color, outfit, and similar details) so characters stay consistent across pages.
The generated story text and illustrations.
If you create an account: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store the password itself).
If you order a printed copy: your email address, the recipient's name, and the shipping address.
Technical basics needed to run the service (an essential login cookie).

The uploaded photo itself is never written to our database or file storage. It is held in memory only while your book is generated and quality-checked, and is permanently deleted before any book is printed or shipped.

How your data is used

Solely to create your personalized picture book and, if you order one, to print and ship it. We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it for any purpose beyond making and delivering your book.

Print orders & quality review

When you order a printed copy, a trained member of our team reviews your book — comparing every illustration against its story text — to make sure it meets our quality bar before it goes to print. This reviewer sees only the generated book (text and illustrations) and your shipping details; the uploaded photo no longer exists at that point. The moment your book is sent to print, all of its personal data is deleted from our servers.

Who processes it

OpenAI — generates the story and illustrations. Data sent through the OpenAI API is not used to train their models.
Vercel — hosts the app and stores generated illustrations in private file storage.
Neon — hosts our database.

Children's privacy

Books are created by parents and legal guardians, not by children. By uploading a photo you confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian and consent to this processing. We collect no more information about a child than is needed to create the book, and we never store the child's photo.

Retention

If you order a printed copy, your book's data is kept just long enough for our quality team to review every page against the story. The moment your book is sent to print, all of its personal data — story text, character description, name, and generated illustrations — is deleted from our servers. Books that are never printed are automatically deleted 90 days after creation. Order records (email, recipient name, shipping address) are kept only as long as needed to deliver your order and meet accounting obligations, then deleted on request.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time — including immediate deletion of a book before the 90-day window. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the rights to data portability, restriction of processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Cookies

We set a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are used, which is why you don't see a cookie banner.
